KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- El Restaurante Regas, uno de los más elegantes de la ciudad y el más antiguo de Tennessee fue honrado por el Alcalde del Condado Knox, la organización Knoxville Libre de Humo y el Departamento de Salud del Condado por su iniciativa de terminar con la opción de fumar dentro de sus instalaciones.
“Éste es otro paso hacia el mejoramiento de la salud y la calidad de vida en el Condado Knox,” dijo el Alcalde Mike Ragsdale. “Encomiamos al restaurante Regas por esta iniciativa y nos agrada ver que el sector privado se une al Condado Knox para crear ambientes agradables y saludables para todos los ciudadanos.”
Mark Jones, director del Departamento de Salud señaló, “El humo del fumador es muy peligroso para todos especialmente, para los niños. Esperamos que esta tendencia positiva continúe,” dijo Jones. Otros negocios que se han unido a esta tendencia son Wright’s Cafeteria, Connors Restaurant, Sapphire’s, Bistro at the Bijou and Clayton Homes.
Según fuentes oficiales de la salud en el Estado, el 75 por ciento de todos los residentes del estado no fuman. Entre 22,000 y 70,000 mueren cada año por inhalar el humo del fumador.
